What a morning!!
So yesterday was the start of London Fashion Week - always an exciting time for London. And this year I was very lucky to be invited to the DAKS show (always a personal favourite!)
I wanted to make sure my friend Sarah and I were there on good time so we could people watch and grab a coffee before the 9am show. Well..... thanks to the District Line being shut we ended up running (yes running....) in heels from Westminster to Somerset House. Normally I don't mind a good sprint, but when you've been suffering from a chest infection all week this was possibly the worst thing I could have done!
Anyway.....we got there and just in the nick of time!
As always DAKS had a fabulous collection (I want the whole collection in my wardrobe!) where their collection 'combines quintessential British style and dedication to luxury fibres with craftsmanship and the art of pattern cutter.' (Quoted from the little booklet we received on our seats!)
This year the collection was inspired from Charlotte Ramplings 'sophisticated, effortless and sometimes androgynous style.' The models all had slicked back, middle parting hair styles which were really strong and the music accompanying them down the catwalk was an amazing cover of Billy Idols White Wedding. The oversized shapes and layering of the outfits really did give this collection a masculine feel.
Here are a couple of my favourite outfits from the show.
My favourite pieces were:
The silver heels (I developed serious shoe envy throughout this show!!)
The over sized jumpers
Metallic v-neck sweaters
Fluid trousers
Sheer panelled jumpsuits
Cropped leather jacket
A-line skirt
Oversized coats
What a way to start the weekend! (and I don't mean nearly missing the show..)
DAKS have really lived up to their British label and made a great collection that is also very wearable!
(I'm now going to hunt for the cover of the White Wedding song they were playing!)
